Yee Yook Jung was born to Yee Hee Poy (father) and Wong Shee (mother) in1862 at Marysville, California. He left for China on August 28, 1879 on the steamship
Gaelic. He returned on the steamship Belgic, and arrived in San Francisco on July 31, 1890. The Collector of the Port of San Francisco refused permission for his landing. Yee Gum Sow petitioned for a Writ of Habeas Corpus on August 8, 1890. A bond was posted. S. C. Houghton, Commissoner recommended Discharge on March 5, 1891. Detainee was represented by Thomas
Riordan and Ward McAllister. On March 5, 1891an Order of Discharge was signed to allow the detainee to remain in the country.
