According to the Hayward Area Historical Society, the building to the left of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge was the location of the building used by Christina and John Sequeira in Hayward, California. IOOF building is on "B" Street in Hayward.

A letter was then read from the Corresponding Secretary of the “Occidental Board of the Woman’s Foreign Missionary Society of the Presbyterian Church” asking that we take into the Home a little white girl, “Annie” six years old who was taken from the Chinese by Mr. Hunter. It was decided that we would take her. Miss Beaver was asked to notify Miss Culbertson.

Mrs. Christina McLeod Sequeira had permit to take Annnie Browning with instructions of adopting her and educating her as if she were her own child if she proves satisfactory after a trial of six months. Mrs. Sequeira is a dressmaker in good circumstances and lives in Haywards. Her husband’s name is John Sequeira and is a shoemaker. They are both Protestants. This child was taken from the Chinese.
